Privacy

WoYT is a tool to analyze your YouTube watch history. We try very hard to keep things simple and minimal. This page describes exactly what we do with your data.

What we store

• Your uploaded file (your Google Takeout JSON or HTML) — stored privately under a random ID. Only used to recompute your stats if needed.
• Your aggregated result (total hours, daily counts, channel counts) — stored under a random share URL of the form /r/<id>.
• Video durations cache (a map of YouTube video IDs to their length in seconds) — shared across all users, contains no personal data.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 with Consent Mode v2 — and the cookie banner you saw on first visit defaults all consent to denied until you accept. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set; we still get an anonymous, cookieless ping (page URL + country) which we use only to understand which pages get visited.

We also IP-anonymize all hits, and we don't use any other third-party trackers, pixels, or fingerprinting.

What we don't do

• No account, no email, no password.
• No advertising trackers besides Google Analytics (above).
• No selling or sharing of your uploaded data with anyone.
• No reading or analyzing your file content beyond computing the stats shown to you.

How long we keep it

• Raw uploaded files: deleted after 90 days.
• Result snapshots: kept for 1 year so your share URL keeps working.

How to delete your data

Open your result page, click Delete my data. We'll wipe the raw file, the snapshot, and the job record. (UI coming in a near-future release; in the meantime, email contact@wastedonyt.com with your result URL.)
